How does PrimeTime LAUSD work?

PrimeTime LAUSD matches uniquely experienced retiree volunteers with specific needs in Los Angeles-area public schools. PrimeTime LAUSD volunteers facilitate special programs, activities and services that would not otherwise be possible. The success of PrimeTime LAUSD hinges on the creativity and commitment of its volunteers and the engagement of participating campus communities. The range of possible programs is virtually unlimited and may include academic, artistic, athletic, administrative, community service or other categories.

Principals, teachers and students on participating campuses submit to the PrimeTime LAUSD program director a wish list of programs that would benefit their school community.

Prospective PrimeTime members register with the PrimeTime LAUSD program director and submit a detailed summary of their expertise, capabilities, interests and availability to volunteer on PrimeTime LAUSD campuses.

The PrimeTime LAUSD program director serves as a matchmaker for campus needs and volunteer capabilities. Once a match is made, the PrimeTime LAUSD volunteer works directly with an on-campus liaison to develop and execute the program or initiative, with ongoing oversight from the program director.
